What do you need?
1 bat, 1 batting tee or block of foam, 1 tennis ball or MILO Kiwi cricket ball, 2 marker cones, a wall or fence
How do you play?
Activity 1: Tee Driving
- Use two marker cones to mark two goal posts 2 metres wide on a wall or fence
- Place the ball on a batting tee on the ground about 10 metres in front of the wall or fence
- Drive the ball off the tee at the goal
- Score 1 point for each goal
- Set a record number of goals for 20 drives
Activity 2: Drop Ball Driving
- Use a wall or fence to stop the ball
- Take up your batting stance in front of the wall or fence
- Drop a tennis ball one step in front of you
- Drive the ball into the wall or fence on the second bounce
- Once you have mastered this activity add a goal and a scoring system similar to Activity 1
Variations:
- Another player to roll or lob the ball underarm to the batter to drive at the goal
- Increase the distance from the batter to the goal and/or decrease the size of the goal
- Set up three batting tees with balls on top for the batter to hit in quick succession at either one goal or a number of goals of different values [eg. 5, 3, 1] made up from several marker cones. The batter with the highest score wins
