Target goal bowling

Download and take away: Target goal bowling

What do you need?
1 set of stumps, 5 marker cones, 1 tennis ball or MILO Kiwi Cricket ball per pair

How do you play?
1. Set up the stumps and a marker cone 15-20 metres apart, then on both sides of the stumps use two marker cones to form two gaps or goals each 1 metre wide

2. Each player to take turns to run in and bowl overarm from beside the single marker cone to hit the stumps

3. Each player to bowl six balls [an over] and score 5 points each time the ball hits the stumps, 3 if it goes through the inner goals on either side of the stumps [ie. between the stumps and the first marker cone], 1 if it goes through the outer goals on either side of the stumps [ie. between the two marker cones], and 0 if it goes outside the outer cones

4. Players to bowl an agreed number of overs

5. The player with the most points is the winner

Variations:

  • Increase the value of the stumps
  • Increase the value of the goals on the off side and decrease them on the on side
  • Decrease the size of the goals
