What do you need?
2 tennis balls or Kiwi cricket balls per pair
How do you play?
1. Players to stand 5-10 metres apart facing each other
Activity 1: Catching one ball
Players to lob one ball to each other catching an agreed number of catches [eg. 20] in two hands, then to do the same using one hand - first the right hand, then the left hand
Activity 2: Catching two balls
Players to have a ball each and to simultaneously lob them to each other catching an agreed number of catches [eg. 20] in two hands, then to do the same using one hand - first the right hand, then the left hand
Variations:
- Catch an agreed number of catches without dropping the ball[s]
- Catch as many catches as possible in a set time
- Increase or decrease the distance between the players
- Vary the height of the lobs - low, high, variable
‘Give with the ball so it doesn’t fall!’
