Coconut shy
Download and take away: Coconut Shy »
What do you need?
1 tennis ball or Kiwi cricket ball per player, 2 marker cones, a number of plastic containers or drink cans
How do you play?
1. Set up the coconut shy target [a pyramid of plastic containers or drink cans] and then 10-15 metres on either side of the target place one of the marker cones
2. Each player to stand behind one of the marker cones and to take turns to throw overarm to hit the target and knock it down
3. The player who knocks it down is the winner
Variations:
- Increase the distance to the target
Decrease the size of the target [eg. a single container or can] and/or try and hit the target as many times as it takes to drive it past the other player’s marker cone to win. A large ball can be used as the target to play this version
- Set up the containers/cans in a line and score a point each time one is knocked over – the player who knocks over the most targets is the winner
‘A batter won’t last if you throw the ball fast!’
