New Zealand Cricket runs a series of COACHING COURSES for parents and teachers who would like to become COACHES to either coach a school or club team and/or simply to improve their knowledge and skills to be able to have fun teaching their own youngsters in the backyard or the playground.
The two introductory courses - MILO Have-A-Go Cricket and MILO Kiwi Cricket - run for two hours, are free and non-examinable. They provide an introduction to skill development for 5-10 year old boys and girls and a guide to parents and teachers on how to run a game.
The Getting Started in Coaching a Cricket Team coaching course costs $20 for which attendees receive a copy of the ‘Coaching a Cricket Team’ coaching manual. The course runs for 4-6 hours, is non-examinable and is designed for parents and teachers involved with coaching 11- 18 year olds. It focuses mainly on how and what to coach a team playing the conventional 11-a-side game.

‘Coaching a Cricket Team’
‘Coaching a Cricket Team’ is a detailed guide covering everything a coach needs to know on how and what to coach a team playing conventional hardball cricket. It deals in a step-by-step manner with the issues that confront a team coach and provides practical advice and guidance to assist the coach cope with these and be more confident and effective in his/her role.
