Batting set up with Jacob Oram
Batting set up with Jacob Oram
Key points:
It’s important to get into a comfortable position when getting set to receive a delivery
Stand side on and grip the bat by wrapping the fingers and thumbs around the handle
Keep your head still and eyes level
As the ball is bowled, swing your bat back, and:
If the ball pitches full
, step towards it and swing the bat down straight [e.g. drive]
If the ball pitches short
, step back and swing the bat down and across with the arms fully extended to hit it [e.g. pull shot]
You can practice your batting set up by yourself using a long mirror. Go on - give it go.
