Swing bowling with Chris Martin
Swing bowling with Chris Martin
Key points:
Swing bowling is when you get the cricket ball to move sideways as it flies through the air, towards, or away from the batsman.
Firstly, you need to grip the ball firmly with your first two fingers on either side of the seam and your thumb underneath
Run in straight, with your eyes level and focused on where you want to bowl the ball
On reaching the stumps try and bowl the ball fast and make it swing
After releasing the ball follow through keeping your eyes focused on the batsman
For In swing
you need the seam to be vertical but angled towards fine leg with the shiny side of the ball facing the off-side
For out swing
keep the seam vertical but angled towards first slip with the shiny side of the ball faces the leg-side
Practise makes perfect so why don’t you head off to the nets and bowl a few overs.
