Fraser Campbell from the official junior supporters club, KIWICAPS, presented Daniel Vettori with a fans banner to display when the team compete in the World Cup.
The banner is made up of a compilation of photographs of fans who wrote messages of support during National Bank One-Day Series matches across the summer.
Fraser, a 12 year-old Cornwall Cricket Club member, was randomly selected from the KIWICAPS fans club and said he was ‘stoked’ to be given the job.
BLACKCAPS captain Daniel Vettori was presented the banner live on SKY TV before the start of the final One-Day International against Pakistan at Eden Park.
“The support is really important to, especially when you head overseas. It’s nice to know how many people back home are supporting us and wanting us to do well,” Vettori said.
“The banner will take pride of place in our team room where the guys can read the messages.
“The support makes it easier and to walk out on the park knowing people are back home watching and wanting us to win means a lot.”
During the World Cup messages of support can be sent via the KIWICAPS website, Fans section of the NZC website or emailed to blackcaps@nzcricket.org.nz.
